GENESIS OF FAMILY TRUST

The idea to constitute a family trust was first proposed by the youths of Edassery Families of Iype Generation, predominant at Kanjoor. They have taken up the matter with the seniors in the family and seniors have fully endorsed the proposal. As a result, all the male members of all the families assembled on 13.08.2006 at the residence of Mr. E.K.Louis master, who was the senior most male member of our family. The meeting was presided by Mr.E.K.Louis master and discussed various matters. The meeting unanimously accepted, the name of the trust as “EDASSERY FAMILY CHARITABLE TRUST (EFCT), which stands for Eternity, Fraternity, Charity and Team work. The draft of the bylaws made by Mr. Joy Sebastian. E. was also unanimously accepted. As per the bylaw the senior most male head of the families will exoffcio be the Patron. As such Mr. E.K.louis master become the founder Patron of the Trust. In order to guide the working of the Trust, an ad-hoc committee was elected, Mr. Joy Sebastian as the President, Mr. E.J.Antony as the Vice President, E.S.Saju as the Secretary, E.G.Santhosh as the Joint Secretary, E.J.Steephen as the Treasurer, and Executive members:- Kuriachan Louis, E.K.Antu, George Varghese(Geogy), E.J.Davis, E.S.George, E.J.Francis(Kochumon), E.J.Joy, E.V. Josy, Biju Antony, E.J.Mani, Moly Stephen, Achamma Avarachan , E.J Mathachan, E.S.Jomy, E.K.Mani, Jessy George. In the first Executive meeting conducted on 26.08.06, a decision was taken to celebrate the formal inauguration of the Family Trust on 05.09.2006.

It was in the fine morning on 05.09.2006, Keralites were celebrating THIRUVONAM, which brings the sweet memories of, peace, harmony and happiness prevailed during the reign of the king, Mahabali; we started our inaugural function of our trust with the prayers and holy mass dedicated to the remembrance of our late members in the family. At about 9 a.m. arts and sports competions were conducted among the members. After the final event, Tug of War, all the members enjoyed the ONA SADYA at 1 p.m.

In the after noon at 4 p.m. the inaugural meeting of the trust was started and Mr. E.K.Louis master presided over the function. President, Mr.Joy Sebastian, delivered the welcome speech. Vicar of Kanjoor St. Mary’s Forane church, Rev.Fr. Thomas Puthussery, officially inaugurated the trust by lighting the Nilavilaku and delivered a speech giving thrust on the necessity of the services of such family trust not only among the family but among the society and the country as a whole. There were several art and cultural programmes in between the meeting and finally Rev. Fr. Vicar awarded the prizes to the winners in the art and sports competitions. The meeting was disbursed at about 6 p.m. followed by dinner. All the members said good by with a decision to meet again next year with more colourful events.
